Neon lights can create a unique ambiance in your home that other lighting options just can’t match. They’re also very different from each other, and knowing which type of neon light to buy will help you get the most out of it and make sure it fits your needs and lifestyle best. Here are 7 different types of neon lights and how to decide which one is best for you.

Neon Signs

Neon signs can be used inside or outside, as long as they’re placed in a well-ventilated area. Some popular places for indoor neon signs include reception areas, bars, restaurants, and offices. These signs are designed to draw attention; their bright colors make them difficult to miss when you’re walking by. Just like all other types of neon lights (with one exception), these signs require maintenance. They will eventually lose their brightness if they aren’t properly cared for; over time, dust particles in the air will dull them down until they’re not recognizable anymore. That being said, it’s an excellent idea to consult with a professional when installing your neon sign so that it looks exactly how you want it.

Taking some measurements beforehand is also recommended so that your sign doesn’t look out of place or tacky in its new location. If you have your eye on an outdoor sign but don’t have space for it indoors, consider adding some rope lighting around your existing signage instead! This type of lighting provides visual interest without blocking visibility in any way—and since no assembly is required with rope lights, installation is quick and easy! Unlike neon signs, rope lights are powered through direct current (DC) sources rather than alternating current (AC). AC is what you normally get from outlets at home; DC power comes from batteries.

Neon Lamps

Neon lamps are one of the most common types of neon lights used at home. They are quite efficient; they can last for thousands upon thousands of hours, depending on how you use them. This makes neon lamps one of your best bets if you’re looking for a small investment that will offer big rewards. They’re also relatively easy to install (though you should always check with an electrician first). Because neon lights often give off a cool color, they can be used in bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, and more. As long as you have a sturdy structure in place, it shouldn’t be too difficult to install a neon lamp—and once it’s installed, it will add an extra bit of pop to any room in your home.

Glow Sticks

Glow sticks are not only great toys but also great decorations. They provide a fun and convenient way to decorate at your next party. Plus, these tools can be purchased online in large quantities, so you can get enough glow sticks to use as centerpieces on your table, on your walls, or on your ceiling without any hassle. And while glow sticks tend to be small compared with some other neon lights you could purchase for decorative purposes, they pack quite a lot of punch when it comes to brightness and color options. The main limitation with these lights is that they do not hang up very easily because they’re usually hollow inside. Another drawback is that many people buy cheap glow sticks that break easily or wear off before you’ve even had a chance to fully enjoy them.

Neon Bulbs

LED-based lighting is all the rage these days, with most homeowners opting for their energy efficiency. However, there’s a reason why neon bulbs have been around since before most people alive today were born: they’re attractive. While neon bulbs do produce a color cast in a home, if done correctly you won’t notice it at all. For example, try using a blue bulb in a fish tank or a bright green bulb in an aquarium where white balance isn’t necessary. It should be noted that neon bulbs are not very efficient when used on their own—they require large transformers to power them properly—but they look great when placed inside lamps or other fixtures alongside more modern LEDs. Ultimately, there’s no wrong way to use neon bulbs; experiment with some different colors and let your imagination run wild!
